TOM PERRIELLO . . .
. . . is a terrific freshman Congressman who – like many Democrats swept into office last year in traditionally-Republican districts – is likely to face a stiff challenge in 2010. Watch him on Morning Joe, here.
CAROLYN MALONEY . . .
. . . is a terrific veteran Congresswoman who couldn’t possibly lose her seat in 2010 – unless she abandons it to run for Hillary Clinton’s old Senate seat. (The problem with that is that there’s someone in that Senate seat – a pro-marriage-equality Democrat, Kirsten Gillibrand, endorsed for reelection by everyone from President Obama and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to NARAL and EMILY’s List.) It would be a terrible idea, as I argue here.
Quote of the Day
It turns out that advancing equal opportunity and economic empowerment is both morally right and good economics, because discrimination, poverty and ignorance restrict growth, while investments in education, infrastructure and scientific and technological research increase it, creating more good jobs and new wealth for all of us.~Bill Clinton
