The President’s Speech, Redux October 3, 2023October 2, 2023 Friday I posted the President’s speech. So worth watching or reading, as our democracy hangs on by a thread. (As does Israel’s — did you see Lesley Stahl’s season-opener on”60 Minutes” last month?) The President and his team are serious, competent, well-informed, and experienced. On the other side you have the My Pillow Guy, Rudy Giuliani, this guy, and the torch-carrying “Jews will not replace us” Charlottesville crowd . . . “some of them very fine people” in the eyes of the twice impeached multiply indicted tax cheat rapist who heads the Republican Party and who kept a book of Hitler’s speeches by his bedside, admires Putin, exchanges love letters with a murderous dictator, and promises “retribution.” A.I. is frightening (yesterday’s post); but so is the grip Trump & Co. have on tens of millions of our compatriots.
