Until you are actually ready to finance a car, do not authorize the dealer to pull a credit report. Each time a credit report is requested, the inquiry appears on subsequent reports, which may negatively impact your ability to get a loan or a good rate. (Dealers may infer that a previous dealer listed on your report rejected your credit.)
