That’s . . . more than the combined military spending of all rest of the world’s 192 countries. While that doesn’t include spending to fight the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, it does contain over $60 billion on obsolete Cold War-era weapons systems designed to thwart the now defunct Soviet Union. This hefty increase in military spending is paid for by cutting spending on human needs like education, child nutrition, children’s healthcare and medical research.
